Gary has been involved with Youth Unlimited Edmonton for over 15 years now. He started on the Board as the Treasurer in 2010, and joined the paid staff in 2011 as the Operations Manager, and then as Interim Executive Director. In 2013, Gary became the Executive Director. Throughout his career Gary has had a variety of roles and opportunities in both the private and non-profit sectors, that have helped equip him with knowledge and experience needed to fill his current role.

 

Ultimately, Gary decided to serve at YUE because he has always had a heart to serve and support youth, a passion for living out the life-giving principles taught by Jesus in the workplace, and a deep concern for building a team of people aligned with the same purpose. Gary is energized to fulfill his support role at YUE by witnessing the tremendous changes that occur in both the students that the YUE team serves, as well as in the team members that he works with.

 

Gary is a life-long learner, who loves to read about theology, politics, and history. He is also a passionate sports fan supporting the Edmonton Oilers, Liverpool FC, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also spends time outdoors walking his dog with his wife, Shannon, and riding his road bike on the Edmonton valley trails. Currently Gary is focused on learning to be a better communicator, especially with those who may see the world a little differently than he does, hoping that this open dialogue invites all of us into a world filled with peace and acceptance.
