“Connection is why we’re here.” – Brené Brown

 

Nicole remembers what it was like growing up in a single parent household with young parents who tried their best, but struggled.

 

When a mountain biking accident redirected her to youth work, she knew God was opening a door to give her challenging history a new purpose. Since starting her role at Youth Unlimited Edmonton, she has heard countless statements from teens like: “Thank you for never giving up on me, even when I was being difficult.”, “It’s easier to talk to someone who understands.”, and “I will always remember this place as the reason I’m still here.” These are just a few of many impactful moments that have shown Nicole the deep need teens have for connection... as well as the amazing ways God is showing up in their lives.

 

Nicole knows transformation is an inside job that’s hard to pull off when we’re lacking positive relationships and encouragement. She loves that she gets to help create a safe community for teens to find belonging and the tools they need to thrive.

 

When she’s not hanging with youth you can find Nicole trail running through the woods with her dog, exploring the mountains, gardening, leading worship, writing a new song…or spending quality time with her daughter Kya
